The vision of Fairview Heights Baptist Church is to lead people to their Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to grow their lifestyle of worship with Him.

FHBC purposes to grow one’s lifestyle of worship through corporate worship, discovery of God’s truth through study of God’s Word, ministering within the church and taking God’s mission outside of the church.

We value…

1. God’s Word – God has communicated to people.

What does this mean?

The Bible is God’s own revelation about Himself in written language. It had real meaning to those who wrote through the inspiration of the Spirit, to those who first read it, and it has real meaning to us today. We cannot truly know Him without knowing His Word.

What does this look like?

The Bible is the centerpiece to the life of the church and the lives of all who follow Christ; it informs all of our thinking and decisions.

2. Relationships – God is a relational God.

What does this mean?

The Bible reveals God’s desire to have a relationship with people and His own relationship within the Trinity. We must endeavor to draw close to God and to value our relationships with each other.

What does this look like?

Prayer is absolutely vital to a healthy relationship with God, and with others. Forgiveness, love, patience, respect and honesty are some ways the Bible tells us we value relationships with others.

3. Service – Jesus Christ sought to serve God the Father and to serve others.

What does this mean?

The very coming of Christ to earth was a sacrifice God made for our gain. The suffering and death of Jesus Christ is a generous gift like no other. Our response to the generous love of God in Christ is our sacrifice and generosity. Being responsible with the role that Christ left to His followers means that we serve God and others.

What does this look like?

Using time, talent, and resources to serve and support the church and the community helps us understand the sacrifice of Jesus Christ more and grow in our relationship with Him.

4. Community – Life was never meant to live alone.

What does this mean?

The Christian life, even more so, is not intended to be lived in isolation from other believers.  The only way to truly know God and to love God is to live in communion with the Spirit of Truth. Equally the only way someone will come to know God is through communion with the Spirit of Truth that indwells the believer who cares to share Christ.

What does this look like?

Participation in corporate worship, small groups, and ministry service communicate how we value our community of faith and missions communicate how we value the world around us.

5. People – People are made in the image of God.

What does this mean?

                  God created man in His own image and likeness. God created people to have a relationship with Him, and He still desires a relationship with people. Jesus came to reconcile this relationship with people. We love people because God loves people. 

            What does this look like?

                  Everyone is welcomed. Everyone has value. Everyone is loved.
